That is, when the mind lies still, and God the Holy Spirit writes his will upon it, and also writes God’s will. Can you say of any of them, Who shall separate us? The Spirit of the living God has entered into him, and become the master-power of his life. For it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. Whatever believers may be separated from, enough remains. I regret that they are not in heaven; it would seem to be a much more proper place for them than this imperfect earth is. A great many, but they are all nothing. That is to come at the resurrection. And heaven shall be a mirror chamber, wherein Christ shall be seen in every one of his people. We have already obtained salvation for our souls, but our body is still under bondage,— subject to weariness,— to pain,— to infirmity,— to death; but, by-and-by, with the new creation, our newly-moulded bodies shall be fit to live in the new world, and fit for our newborn souls to inhabit. While God is for us, and we keep in his love, we may with holy boldness defy all the powers of darkness.32-39 All things whatever, in heaven and earth, are not so great a display of God's free love, as the gift of his coequal Son to be the atonement on the cross for the sin of man; and all the rest follows upon union with him, and interest in him. It is Christ that died. To them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. They live for self-aggrandizement.
